An Intro From CSC’s New Cloud VP

May 6th, 2010 By Siki Giunta

A lot of people have been asking me why I joined CSC after 12 years running companies as a CEO, so I thought I would share my thinking. Those that know me know that I am very passionate about cloud computing. As I have blogged before, I believe that cloud is the fabric that will allow us to develop, build and deliver all the technology for the new generation of human beings that is growing up right now. Power, speed and availability are not even factors in the conversations of our youth. They are well assumed. It is expected that applications be as easy to use as a computer game.

Need Cloud In APAC? Take The Test

February 10th, 2010 By Administrator

Anyone flying into Australia recently has been welcomed by CSC — and a host of large cats.

Have no fear, these leopard-themed advertisements are part of this quarter’s push to raise awareness in Asia and the Pacific (APAC) about the maturing offerings and benefits that come from IT virtualisation. And their big splash is just a hint at the events that will play out this month.

Should your organization be taking part? An informative self-assessment will provide an answer:

UK Activity In The Clouds

December 14th, 2009 By Brian Boruff

leaping-into-cloudsEveryone at CSC’s Trusted Cloud Services is excited about all the good things happening lately. The continuing growth of buzz about cloud computing is a sign of healthy conversation. Recently, our global team has been taking part in that conversation, but our UK colleagues have been especially active.

Ron Brown, Technical Director for CSC EMEA North, took part in the BussinessCloud9 Summit on Dec. 4. This panel and webcast was part of a multi-day series of events on cloud that attracted thousands of participants, commenters and listeners across the web. You can follow the thoughts of representatives from Google, Microsoft, Salesforce.com, Netsuite, and more in the replay archived on their site.

Ron Brown, who was instrumental in putting together CSC’s Cloud Adoption Assessment, was also interviewed for a supplement to The Times. The 16-page special section looks at private clouds and asks good questions of some of the people and companies at the forefront of bringing cloud computing to the enterprise. The authors interviewed an incredible number of executives, consultants, and IT architects, and you can see what Ron had to say on pages 7 and 13.

This all comes close on the heels of our announcement that CSC will be helping the UK’s Royal Mail Group take advantage of the cloud. CSC has been providing servics to Royal Mail since 2003, and this new agreement will position Royal Mail Group’s 30,000 employees to reap the benefits of Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS). You can learn more about that project in the CSC news release, or learn more about BPOS at Microsoft.

Video: SaaS Enablement For Software Vendors

November 11th, 2009 By Jay Noble

It’s an exciting time to be in the software business — because there’s plenty of opportunity.

The software development industry is under tremendous pressure, because web-based software delivery has radically transformed the business model. No more CD-ROMs, it’s on-demand, subscription-based, software-as-a-service.

Technology and processes are now in place to create, manage and deliver software applications with amazing time-to-market advantages.

Now, we’re able to offer the SOASTA web application testing suite of services, we can help independent software vendors make that transition even more rapidly.

The shift is already in full swing. Should your application be a part of it?

Video: CSC Cloud Orchestration Services

November 3rd, 2009 By Yogesh Khanna

Cloud computing is evolving, and different clouds are emerging: Private clouds, the public clouds, of course, hybrid clouds, and now community clouds for industries such as insurance or banking.

Things can be very confusing — “What’s the right cloud for my organization?”

CSC can serve as the integrator, to bring the right service, at the right performance, at the right time.

What’s orchestration? It’s the on-boarding and off-boarding of users. It’s metering and billing. It’s monitoring and management. It’s security and transparency.

I briefly explain more of CSC’s Orchestration Services in this video.

What implications does this framework have for cloud adoption in your enterprise? Are there barriers that prevent you from moving to the cloud?

What makes CSC unique in this market? It’s the legacy.

We have the resources, the industry-leading partners, and we provide technology-agnostic advice.

What do you think: Does a trusted track record count for much in the cloud computing revolution?
