Anyone flying into Australia recently has been welcomed by CSC — and a host of large cats.

Have no fear, these leopard-themed advertisements are part of this quarter’s push to raise awareness in Asia and the Pacific (APAC) about the maturing offerings and benefits that come from IT virtualisation. And their big splash is just a hint at the events that will play out this month.

Should your organization be taking part? An informative self-assessment will provide an answer:

It’s Official: CSC And Google Take LA To The Cloud

December 14th, 2009 By John Zeberlein
its-official-csc-and-google-take-la-to-the-cloud

Today marks a momentous occasion in enterprise information technology. CSC and Google are excited to kick off our work to help Los Angeles migrate to the cloud and the suite of Google Apps solutions. This is a project to be proud of because of the value and potential it represents, not only to the employees of the City of Los Angeles, but the citizens they serve.

City workers at all levels will transition, for example, from their legacy email system to a cloud-based solution hosted by Google, and CSC will be helping get them there. As an example of the benefits this will bring to the citizens of Los Angeles, moving email to a Google cloud will free up 100 servers and save Los Angeles nearly $750,000 in electricity costs over 5 years.

And that’s just a sample of the value captured in this project.

UK Activity In The Clouds

December 14th, 2009 By Brian Boruff
uk-activity-in-the-clouds

leaping-into-cloudsEveryone at CSC’s Trusted Cloud Services is excited about all the good things happening lately. The continuing growth of buzz about cloud computing is a sign of healthy conversation. Recently, our global team has been taking part in that conversation, but our UK colleagues have been especially active.

Ron Brown, Technical Director for CSC EMEA North, took part in the BussinessCloud9 Summit on Dec. 4. This panel and webcast was part of a multi-day series of events on cloud that attracted thousands of participants, commenters and listeners across the web. You can follow the thoughts of representatives from Google, Microsoft, Salesforce.com, Netsuite, and more in the replay archived on their site.

Ron Brown, who was instrumental in putting together CSC’s Cloud Adoption Assessment, was also interviewed for a supplement to The Times. The 16-page special section looks at private clouds and asks good questions of some of the people and companies at the forefront of bringing cloud computing to the enterprise. The authors interviewed an incredible number of executives, consultants, and IT architects, and you can see what Ron had to say on pages 7 and 13.

This all comes close on the heels of our announcement that CSC will be helping the UK’s Royal Mail Group take advantage of the cloud. CSC has been providing servics to Royal Mail since 2003, and this new agreement will position Royal Mail Group’s 30,000 employees to reap the benefits of Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS). You can learn more about that project in the CSC news release, or learn more about BPOS at Microsoft.

A Place To Let The Cloud Debate Continue

December 2nd, 2009 By Administrator
a-place-to-let-the-cloud-debate-continue

CSC recently sponsored a debate at The Economist on the topic of trust in cloud computing. Obviously, this is a topic we’re very interested in as providers of Trusted Cloud Services.

So, although the voting on the motion has closed, we encourage you to give it a look. It’s worth browsing the opinions of so many and diverse professional men and women. There is also a section with the CSC position.

What’s more, we hope this debate can continue here at TrustedCloudServices.com as a conversation, in a spirit of inquiry, with a goal of arriving at and capturing the value inherent in this disruptive IT innovation.

This is a conversation that’s going on in many places across the web, and here are some more you might find interesting:
