VMWorld 2010: Silver Lining in the Cloud

Yesterday afternoon, during CSC’s Super Session in Mascone North, Siki Guinta, Global VP Cloud Computing & Peter Allen, President Global Sales & Marketing, presented on Business Transformation - The Silver Lining in the Cloud. The main takeaway from their presentation is that “Pay As You Go” does not mean “Pay Less”. There are three strategies: Optimize scale, Workload driven, & Exponential return.  CSC’s view on the optimize scale is to optimize around the business wordload/processes with business first strategies.  Let the workload drive your transition. Address service orchestration and integration. See exponential return in the range of 30-70% savings compared with legacy support models.

The overall silver lining is Agility, Efficient & Effective Cost Model & Breakthrough Thinking. With Agility, you can acquire new business capabilities, rapid provisioning, and support M&A. With Efficient and Effective Cost Model, you can see cost transparency, use what you need, only when you need it and reduce TCO. Lastly, with Breakthrough Thinking, you can create new products and services, reduce time to value, and break down barriers to entry for new investments.

To learn more about Siki & Peter’s presentation and to learn more about CSC’s cloud capabilities, stop by Booth 1014 in Mascone South today.

Yesterday afternoon, during day two of VMWorld 2010, Siki Giunta, Global VP Cloud Computing and Jay Noble, Director Cloud Computing, presented on Actual Cloud – Value on Demand. Siki commented that CSC believes that all clouds (public, community, hybrid, and private) should all be multi-tenant with all vectors employed. Those vectors are agility, price advantage, access, elasticity. As well as, security, specialization, SLA, and control.

Jay then went into how CSC’s CloudLab and CloudExchange employ all these vectors. CloudExchange features reliable mail and collaboration delivered as a service with the rich feature set of Exchange 2010 but without the overhead. CloudLab features on-demand scalable, virtualized infrastructure with automation technology to improve collaboration and workflow.

To learn more about Siki and Jay’s presentation, stop by Booth 1014 for demos and cloud assessments. Also be sure to check out Siki and Peter Allen, President Global Sales & Marketing, present on Business Transformation - The Silver Lining in the Cloud, at 3pm today in Mascone North 135. A HD 3D TV will be given away to one lucky attendant.
